Big Green Award Winner (1997) – Given annually to a senior Panther football player who best demonstrates the qualities of courage, hustle, and desire as a role model for his fellow teammates. The award is named in memory of the seven former Ferrum Junior College football players and Coach Rick Tolley who perished in Marshall University football team airline tragedy in November of 1970.

I have had the privilege of coaching some amazing athlete’s in my years of coaching. In Football I have coached 3 athletes that have received Division I scholarships and numerous others that have played at lower divisions. In track I had the privilege of coaching the most honored athlete in Virginia High School History. Catherine White was a 15 time state champion and a 5 time All-American. I also coached another state champion, Zac Edwards, he won the 3200m his senior year. I have also coached 4 male athletes that have gone over 45 feet and 4 female athletes that have gone over 34 feet in the Triple Jump and numerous 20 foot male and 16 foot female Long Jumpers.
